Village of Winthrop Harbor
Protecting Life & Property Since Day One
Since 1949 The Winthrop Harbor Fire Department has been evolving from a complete volunteer organization to an all hazards able part-time paid on-premise fire and rescue service.
The members of the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department recognize that the support from this community is unmatched. It is our honor to provide the most value-driven fire and rescue services possible.
The Winthrop Harbor Fire Department provides all-hazards emergency response. For added value, the department works in conjunction with neighboring departments to provide a seamless emergency response.
Welcome to the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department. Since 1949, our members have proudly protected this community. The department began with volunteers who answered every alarm, and today it is a part-time paid department staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Together with our regional partners, including the Zion Fire Department, the Newport and Beach Park Fire Protection Districts, and the Pleasant Prairie Fire Department, we deliver dependable fire, rescue, and emergency medical care to the Village and the surrounding unincorporated areas.
Winthrop Harbor is blessed with one of the region's greatest natural amenities, the Lake Michigan lakefront. With these same partners, we provide water safety and rescue operations along our shoreline so that residents, boaters, and visitors can enjoy the lake with confidence.
We are grateful for this community's unwavering support. We invite you to stop by the station, take a CPR class, and check your smoke alarms. And if you've ever considered a career in the fire service, come talk to us. It is an honor to serve you.
